September 2022: Mary Moore
My new series of clay figures are focused on a progression of ideas based on my childhood memories of myth and fairy-tales. I feel those old stories are universal and reveal to the observer parts of ourselves and I’m hoping these sculptures also resonate on that level to the viewer. Each sculpture unfolds like a mystery. I’m not always aware of how they will turn out. I use underglazes and washes as well as embellish with patterns with Sgraffito before firing and some of the some of the arms are movable.
