September 2003: Marcia Hindman & Susan Gallacher-Turner

Marcia Hindman will be showing her latest paintings. Using oil and wax on canvas with the additional use of oil sticks, Hindman creates lush, textured surfaces. Her colors are warm and vibrant. The theme for this show is "landscape abstracts". She paints a slice of the earth or as Hindman puts it "an ant-farm view of the world".

Susan Gallacher-Turner's sculptures focus on complex cultural and ethnic myths as seen through gestural forms. Central to each sculpture is a representation of a human face. Her work is best described as mixed media sculpture and contains wood, copper sheeting, wire mesh, clay and paint. In her "Ethnic Portrait Series" she has added the use of Japanese paper and fabric.
