October 2007: Bruce Fontaine Ceramics
Bruce Fontaine: “Bruce-Kebobs”
“These clay sculptural forms are a mix of random and thematic
compositions, skewered onto steel rod armatures in a shish-kebob
fashion and representing a variety of expressions by the artist. I
am using the concept of totems as a means of drawing the attention of
the viewer.”
Bruce Fontaine, an Oregon ceramic artist, mixes sculpting with
pottery throwing techniques to create works that are “urban folk
art.” His style is influenced by ancient, indigenous and
contemporary sources.
