March 2022: Paul Griffitts Fractals

Working with the fundamental building blocks of the world around us--the repetitive forms that shape the seashell, the fern, our circulatory system and neural pathways, indeed the entire universe--I attempt to combine them in different ways, thereby presenting the observer with something familiar and yet strange; something that resonates with, and echoes, the world around them. This juxtaposition creates a certain tension and forces the viewer to contemplate the beauty of nature’s forms refracted through a mathematical lens. My latest work draws on 20th-century masters such as Picasso, Klimt, and Kandinsky, as well as the bold colors of the Fauves and German expressionists, which is then layered, with the use of neural networks,  over a foundation of my original fractal art.  See more of his work here: frackxion.com
