March 2008: Chris Griffin & Tabor Porter
Chris Griffin produces one of kind objects from recycled and found materials. The ingredients in each piece are chosen for their beauty, mystery or whimsical spirit. The patina and aging of these parts is essentially the palette. The stories in these old found objects come together to form a new community in each piece of work and a new story is told.
Tabor Porter’s also creates mixed media assemblages. He explains that he is trying to repair the present with the past. “We use and we discard. We seem to have lost the need to repair or refurbish the things we use. I am trying to attend to that need by creating found and mix media art, to create a unique object in the present.”
