June 2004: Robert Hodges Glass
Robert Hodges primary inspiration for his glass sculpture is the interaction of color and light. Color in glass possesses a unique quality because of its response to varied light sources. It can either be reflected or transmitted with very different effects under differing conditions. Hodges accentuates the emotive aspect of color in this series through subtle changes or shifts in color within the internal layer of each piece. Outer layers of color are added to provide additional support for the mood of the internal layer. Thick casings of clear glass help to separate the various layers of color and reinforce the mood unique to each piece.
