June 2004: Greta Ashworth Paintings

Greta Ashworth lives in the country (the Willamette Valley). This is evident in her subject matter: horses smitten with each other, pheasants on the run, dogs enjoying a milk bone and a variety of animals from a bear to a deer. By using animal imagery as subject matter, Ashworth reveals "her little world" to the world at large. These animals help communicate past events or even a person. But most of all her work has humor, even if it' a little dark.  Her paintings are influenced by Dutch painters of the 1400'
