July 2015: Sarah Ferguson
Sarah Ferguson uses a variety of mediums: drawing, painting, clay, mosaic, assemblage to explore her artistic vision. Sarah is intrigued with nature, myth and story. Using line, color, form to bring an idea to life. "As an artist I experience, observe and absorb the world around me, then respond through my art." Inspiration comes from the ordinary and the unexpected. "I am drawn to bodies of water and their watersheds, and intrigued by the architecture of the elements of their systems. The root pattern of an overturned tree, a piece of bark with insect tunnels, seed pods, an old nest, beaver chewed sticks, these objects take on a totemic presence. People and animals appear as characters and suggest story or pose a question. These observations, experiences, and imaginings are seeds of ideas for my art."
