January 2005: Mark Brody Mosaic
Mark Brody creates art from cut pieces of glass & tile. He blends his background in construction and tile work with an artistic sense. His approach to mosaic art is different from most in that he constructs shaped forms, from 3-D houses and pagoda shapes to wall pieces with cut angles and curves. He has succeeded in breaking out of a square border. For example one of his wall pieces actually rotates, a bicycle wheel shape with mosaics forming a city grid and transportation patterns. Another piece stands independently and resembles a Japanese temple, inviting the viewer to look inside it' windows.
