January 2005: David Schell Paintings
David Schell will be showing paintings on paper and wood panels. For the last three years Schell has been working on a series of landscape paintings and drawings that depict his neighborhood and other places in Portland. The work was done directly from life and is intended to be both a visual and emotional response to place. He recreates the experience of movement through paint, of how we focus on certain things and pass over others in any given view. He achieves clarity of line, movement of paint and richness of color to create an overall sense of structure.
