February 2004: Erika Kohr Cast Glass

Erika Kohr' focus for her sculptural glass work is the human form as viewed through the clothing that would be draped upon it. The forms that will be displayed are full bodied women' red dresses, adolescent girls patterned dresses, toddlers and men' black slacks. Along with these apparel pieces she will be showing glass canoes, anatomical hearts, and a glass tree stump; giving the clothing forms greater context. Kohr' glass sculptures intend to stand as ghost images of a moment in the life of an individual as well as attempting to create narratives that describe the human experience. Some of these pieces are free standing pedestal pieces while others are wall mounted with steel armatures.
