August 2025: Brian Borrello - Charcoal & Mixed Media

As a visual artist and designer, my interest lies in creating awareness of human life in balance with other life forms within our shared environment. I try to offer art experiences that ‘naturalize’ the human experience, creating awareness of natural forms and processes that we can allude to in our identities: interconnected networks, symbiotic relationships, mutual co-existence. Through my outdoor public art, I strive to make interesting and unexpected encounters at a larger scale, often incorporating renewable solar and wind energy sources.

My studio is located in North Portland, Oregon, where I also run Neonjones, a neon and LED lighting design and fabrication shop. I use the space to develop my public art projects, drawing on skills such as welding, metal casting, and cold glasswork, and it's where I create my large-scale drawings as well.
