August 2024: Heather Jacks - Oil Painting

Heather Jacks’ paintings are ultimately an expression of the way she views the world. She has always been acutely conscious of light, shadow and the beauty of her surroundings. Whether an evening meadow scene, or a moody cloudscape, she tries to impart a sense of timelessness to her work. Painting is an expressive and cathartic process for her. She paints from memory and starts with no preconceived notion about what the work will become. She listens to her intuition and lets the surfaces emerge. Her thoughts are often of the changing light throughout the day, the movement of the clouds in the sky, the gradual change in the color, texture and structure of all things over time. The Pacific Northwest landscapes, seascapes and cloudscapes have been an immense inspiration.
