August 2008: Alison Brown & Rick Gregg
The next show at the Guardino Gallery will feature Alison Brown with charcoal & pastel drawings and Rick Gregg with steel sculpture. The show opens Thursday, July 31 with a reception for the artists. It will run through August 26.
Alison Brown creates strong and evocative images. Through the medium of charcoal and pastel painting, wood block relief and intaglio prints, imaginative and mythical figures are interwoven with plant and animal forms. She has titled her portion of the show: The Healing Image.
Rick Gregg’s sculptures are a product of his background in welding and art blacksmithing. Predominately sculpting with the flame of a torch, the liquid metal is moved into the shape desired. Gregg also experiments combining welded steel with cements.
