April 2009: Pacific North West Sculpture
Twenty-three artists from PNWS will be represented in this juried exhibit. Works feature a wide array of media, including cast bronze, welded steel, ceramic, carved stone, cement, mosaic, cast glass, beadwork, and mixed media. Regional artists in the exhibit range from emerging to internationally known sculptors.
Several of the exhibiting artists have received recent awards and commissions of note. Teresa Sullivan recently won the juror’s choice award for Mesa (Arizona) Arts Center’s 30th Annual Contemporary Crafts exhibit with her beaded work. Two of the sculptors, Julian Voss Andreae and Alisa Looney, have works in the permanent collection of Maryhill Museum of Art’s Outdoor Sculpture Garden. A smaller version of Voss Andreae’s “Quantum man” is included in this exhibit.
Martin Eichinger’s romantic figurative bronze work has received First Place in the sculpture category at the International ARC Salon. Carole Turner was one of three American sculptors to have a piece commissioned for Tiananmen Square for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China.
